Become a Volunteer

We are always looking for people who can help at our Treatment Centre. Whether it is a morning a week, or a couple of hours once a month, we would love to hear from you. We have a good, enthusiastic team who cover a wide variety of tasks including preparing food, cleaning buckets, food troughs and pens, hosing down pens, sterilising feed bowls, cleaning the treatment centre/windows, etc. We would also welcome help with DIY, gardening, painting, etc. Swan handling is sometimes necessary and training on handling techniques will be given - it is not, however, compulsory.

! VOLUNTEERS NEEDED AT OUR TREATMENT CENTRE !

DO YOU HAVE A FEW HOURS TO SPARE A WEEK ?

We need help with the morning feed which is normally prepared at around 9am and takes approx. 1 - 1 1/2 hours to complete. If you could help for a day a week or a day a month, do please let us know. Weekends are normally especially busy with rescues and we always need extra hands to help. If you have a spare hour on a Saturday or Sunday, particularly 8.30 - 9.30, please call Wendy on 01753 859397.We are also always pleased to hear from people who can help on an 'as required' basis to cover for regular volunteers who are on holiday or off stick.

We regret that we are unable to accept the help of unders 16s unless accompanied by a parent or guardian.

The jobs are many and varied. The swans are very rewarding to work with and very rarely aggressive. Share their fight for survival in today's harsh world. The swans are all individuals with captivating personalities but they need (y)our help in their hour of need. Help us to help the swans. After all, a river or lake without swans is like a room without furniture
